 PROJECT INFORMATION
Lofdal Christian Academy (LCA) is a project that was launched by Lofdal Community Projects, a registered Non- Profit Organisation. LCA is an independent mission school, registered with the Department of Education. When LCA opened its doors in 1998 it did so with an intake of 50 learners. Today we have approximately 300 learners ranging from Gr. R to Gr.5.
To ensure the continued success of LCA, we have identified the following goals that we aim to achieve in the near future.
• The establishment of sport and recreation as well as arts and culture programmes/facilities for learners. • A parenting skills course to equip parents with the requisite skills to face the challenges that present themselves in their everyday lives. • Our main goal is, however to obtain donations to fund the building of a bigger school facility
Lofdal Nutritional Feeding Project Lofdal Community Projects has, in addition to establishing LCA, identified the nutritional needs of children and people struck by poverty in surrounding communities and have initiated a feeding project to fight the ever- increasing malnutrition statistics in the Western Cape and broader Southern Africa region. We are currently feeding more than 45 000 individuals a month and are aiming to feed between 100 000 and 120 000 persons in the five (5) different impoverished communities that we have identified. These communities include: Bloekombos, Wallacedene, Parow, Franschoek and Maitland.
Our future goals include: • Providing food to children and adults on a daily basis; and • Obtaining donations to fund the purchase of a farm to serve as a job creation project and to produce fresh fruit and vegetables to supply the feeding project.
Lofdal House of Safety Lofdal House of Safety is yet another project that has been launched under Lofdal Community Projects, that has several projects running in different communities, making a difference and impacting the lives of people in dire need. This project focuses on orphan children in the Western Cape, particularly those from impoverished communities. We have successfully remodeled a building and established a house of safety, where we are currently caring for more than 19 orphaned and high risk children between the ages of 5 months and 13 years. We provide them with the love they need and a place where they can feel safe. In this way we are creating a loving home environment where they can dream and pursue a future much brighter than their past.
Our future goals include: • In the long term: to obtain funding to build a children’s village. • In the short term: to collect donations to fund the building of a bigger House of Safety that will allow us to make a difference and care of 65 children, including children with HIV/AIDS.
