Day 1, 2 & 3: Cape Town and area On arrival at Cape Town International airport you are welcomed by our local representative. He or she will hand over your detailed route description and vouchers for the accommodations that are booked for you. Your tour starts with 3 nights in and around Cape Town. This leaves you ample time to explore the Cape Peninsula and some of the interesting, selected community projects.
Day 4: Cape Town - Hermanus Today you drive to the coastal town of Hermanus, considered to be the whale watching capital of the world*. Here you also get the chance to visit the Swop Shop – a community project aimed at the disadvantaged children of Hermanus. Overnight Hermanus.
Day 5 & 6: Hermanus – Oudtshoorn Today you drive to Oudtshoorn where you can visit one of the many ostrich farms, the nearby Cango Caves and/or the wildlife ranch. Alternatively continue to the nearby village of De Rust where you can enjoy a donkey cart ride into the Swartberg Pass. Overnight two nights in Oudtshoorn.
Day 7: Oudtshoorn –Knysna /Wilderness Continue to Knysna in the Garden Route and visit the Wilderness National Park. Visit a local community project. Overnight in Knysna or Wilderness; near the beach.
Day 8: Knysna - Plettenberg Bay / Tsitsikamma Forest Continue your route and overnight in Plettenberg Bay. You can enjoy a Tree Top Tour in Stormsriver 30 meters above the Tsitsikamma Forest. Overnight in a forest hut in Tsitsikamma or Plettenberg Bay.
Day 9 & 10: Plettenberg Bay – Chintsa Drive to Chintsa, along the unspoiled Wild Coast; Overnight two nights next to the beach.
Day 11 & 12: Chintsa – Elliotdale Continue to rustic Elliotdale where the community offers canoe trips up the Xhora River past the ancient cycad trees. The sky is so clear, the eco-friendly lodge guarantees shooting stars. Stay 2 nights
Day 13 & 14: Elliotdale - Leisure Bay You drive through the former Transkei and Ciskei homelands. Visit the Nelson Mandela museum in Mthatha (previously Umtata). Overnight in the aptly named Leisure Bay.
Day 15: Leisure Bay – Matatiele Drive to Matatiele in KwaZulu-Natal. Sleep 1 night in traditional rondavels; owned and set up by the local community. If you wish, you can assist in preparing traditional dishes.
Day 16 & 17: Matatiele - Moroosi chalets Cross the Qachas Nek Border into the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. Here you can hike to the Christ the King viewpoint. The second day you can enjoy a guided walk up Thaba Moroosi and see the Bushmen paintings. Optionally you can do the Bearded Vulture sunset drive & hike. See a magnificent sunset over the Senqu River Valley. Overnight two nights in Moroosi chalets.
Day 18 & 19: Moroosi chalets -Malealea Continue your route up north. See dinosaur footprints just before Quthing. Overnight 2 nights at Malealea. Experience the Lesotho scenery on horse back, mountain bike or while hiking with experienced guides. You can also visit a local village, school and craft market.
Day 20: Malealea - Roma Continue to Roma among the rocky foothills of the Maloti Mountains. Donkeys, cattle, pigs and chickens roam freely among the blanket clad horsemen who come to shop at the Trading Post. Overnight one night in Roma.
Day 21: Roma - Golden Gate National Park Spend the night on the border with Lesotho near the beautiful Golden Gate National Park.
Day 22: Golden Gate National Park – Johannesburg After breakfast you drive to Johannesburg International Airport, for your flight home. If you want to extend your holiday or combine your trip with any of our other products, we will gladly assist you.
