Winter in the southern hemisphere coincides with the northern summers. Thus Christmas in South(ern) Africa is celebrated in the summer heat. But even in South Africa you can experience some of the Hallmark Christmas... Travel to the town of Tulbagh in the southern winter. Watch the (early or late?) arrival of Santa in the historic streets of Tulbagh, rich in national monuments. The streets will be decorated with Christmas lights and there are traditional Christmas treats. With some luck the surrounding mountains will be snowcapped as well!
