ITINERARY
Day 1: Johannesburg – Hoedspruit/Timbavati
On the first morning of your trip you drive the beautiful route to the Kruger National Park where you overnight in intimate lodges (tree houses, rondavels) near the park. Here you can have your first game drive by open vehicle or why not join a game walk together?
Day 2: Kruger National Park
Drive through Kruger again, this time in the comfort of your own car. Try to spot the Big 5 together. There is also a luxury option available that includes accommodation in a private Game Lodge, two game drives and all meals.
Day 3: Kruger National Park
Spend another day in this magnificent reserve, try to spot the Big 5 with the one you love.
Day 4: Panorama Route
After breakfast you and your partner drive the picturesque Panorama route, with photo stops at astonishing vistas like the Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window. The quaint former mining village of Pilgrim’s Rest oozes romance. Make sure you visit it on your way back to your lodge in the southern part of the Kruger National park. We provide the picnic basket.
Day 5: Hazyview - Port Elizabeth
Today drive to Kruger Mpumulanga International Airport for your short flight to Port Elizabeth where you and your partner will spend the night near the romantic beachfront.
Day 6: Port Elizabeth – Tsitsikamma
Today you travel to the Tsitsikamma National Park on the Garden Route. Here you can hike through the forest with splendid ocean views and when you’re lucky spot whales frolicking in the surf. The short hike to the suspension bridge is quite rewarding. In the afternoon you and your partner drive to Knysna, the centre of the Garden Route and proud host of the annual oyster (a local specialty) festival. Two nights accommodation in this romantic holiday town.
Day 7: Knysna/Plettenberg Bay
Book a cruise on the estuary where you can meet up with dolphins and whales*. Alternatively go on the Featherbed excursion.
Day 8: Knysna - Oudtshoorn
Start the morning with a picnic on a romantic spot, organised especially for you. Drive the Outeniqua pass to Oudtshoorn where you can visit Cango Caves, the wildlife ranch and an ostrich farm.
Day 9: Oudtshoorn – Montagu
Follow Route 62 via Ladysmith to the small town of Montagu. Bring your bathing clothes as a relaxing dip in the warm springs is highly recommended. Next you can experience traditional South African hospitality as you overnight in a “farm style” lodge. Overnight near the springs.
Day 10: Montagu – Stellenbosch
After a champagne breakfast you drive to Stellenbosch over the fabled Route 62 with splendid mountain views and vineyards dominating the landscape. Overnight in the idyllic town of Stellenbosch.
Day 11 & 12: Stellenbosch
You have two days and nights to explore this romantic town and the surrounding Winelands. Overnight Stellenbosch.
Day 13: Stellenbosch - Cape Town/Hout Bay
Today you drive along False Bay to visit the penguin colony on Boulders beach. Drive on to the Cape of Good Hope Nature reserve (where you can have a picnic on one of the secluded beaches) Follow the coastal route to the ‘The Mother City’ where you overnight. You can stay in a comfortable centrally located guesthouse or in the small fishing village of Hout Bay (20 min from Cape Town) near the beach.
Day 14 & 15: Cape Town
Cape Town has much to offer. Visit Robben Island or take a leisurely walk through Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. Enjoy a picnic on top of Table Mountain or explore the V & A Waterfront that has plenty of romantic restaurants to choose from. The Two Oceans Aquarium is also something most couples would enjoy.
