ITINERARY

Day 1: Lusaka
On arrival you will be picked up from Lusaka International Airport and transferred to your  lodge just outside Lusaka. Your first day gives you the chance to relax by the pool or explore the sprawling city of Lusaka with its colourful market places and curios work shops. Overnight Lusaka lodge (B&B).
Basis: Bed & Breakfast

Day 2, 3 & 4: Lake Kariba
Your private driver will accompany you during your trip through-out Zambia. After breakfast you will depart for Lake Kariba which used to be the biggest man-made dam before the Aswan Dam in Egypt was opened. The trip which is about 5 hours will take you through Kafue Town, where you will cross the Kafue River to Mazabuka, Zambia’s sugar capital. From the high plateau you descend to a much lower, drier and hotter area. Along the road are areas dotted with old Baobab trees and traditional villages where time appears to have stood still. The last few kilometres to your destination are on sand tracks. Suddenly the lake and your accommodation appear on the horizon. You will spend the following days relaxing at Lake Kariba. The lake is famous for its spectacular sunsets. You will visit islands full of game and watch elephants and other wild game from your house boat.
In the afternoon you have the chance to try your arm at fishing; you might even catch the legendary tiger fish! During your time here there is also the chance for you to explore the biggest Crocodile Farm in the world.
Basis: Full board including Activities

Day 5 & 6: Livingstone/Victoria Falls

Leaving Lake Kariba you will travel to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls in Livingstone. Here you can take the famous bungee jump from the Zambezi Bridge and the wildest commercial rafting in the world. The less daring will enjoy a romantic sunset cruise on the Zambezi. Besides all these activities there is an extensive souvenir market where you can hunt down the perfect reminder of your time in Livingstone.
Basis: Dinner, Bed & Breakfast

Day 7 &  8: South Kafue National Park
Today you leave Livingstone for a five hour trip to the South of Kafue National Park. There is a halfway stop at Kalomo, the first capital of Zambia (former Northern Rhodesia). From here a gravel road leads us past traditional African villages to Ndumdumwense, the Southern entrance of Kafue National Park. With its enormous size of over 22 thousand square km Kafue National Park is one of the biggest and yet one of the last known National Parks of the World. From the gate it is another 3 hour drive to your accommodation, an intimate safari camp in the middle of the Nanzhila Plains. During your time here experienced guides will take you on game.
Basis: Full Board including Game Activities

Day 9, 10 & 11: North Kafue National Park
Today you travel from the plains to the Northern sector of Kafue National Park. During the 6 hour trip we will enjoy lunch. You will pass the Itehzi-Tezhi dam, which divides the Kafue National Park and the Kafue Flats. In the afternoon you will arrive at your lodge, on the banks of the Kafue River. Your accommodation is in luxurious chalets and the lodge has a swimming pool for your relaxation. The next couple of days you will have the chance to experience walking safaris, boat cruises and game drives giving you the chance to spot lions, elephants, leopards and cheetahs, to name but a few of the residents of the park.  Basis: Full Board including Game Activities

Day 12: Lusaka
After breakfast you will be taken from your lodge back to Lusaka. Spend the last night of your trip in a very special and luxurious boutique hotel situated in the heart of the city. After some last minute shopping and/or relaxation your tour ends here. Unless you feel like adding a few days of course…
