ITINERARY

Day 1: Lusaka
After your arrival you will be picked up from Lusaka International Airport and transferred to your  lodge just outside Lusaka. Your first day gives you the chance to relax by the pool or explore the sprawling city of Lusaka with its colourful market places and curios work shops. Overnight Lusaka lodge (B&B).

Day 2 & 3: Mutinondo Wilderness Area
After breakfast you will be picked up by your driver in your 4x4. Today you will travel along the great North road, through Kabwe. Formerly known as ‘Broken Hill’, Kabwe is an old mining town known to some as the site of the “Broken Hill Man” skull, that dates back 100 to 300 thousand years.
At Kapiri Moshi you will turn North East and drive past traditional African villages to your destination, the Mutinondo Wilderness Area on the edge of the Luangwa escarpment.
Explore the Wilderness area on foot, canoe or even horseback. It has amazing waterfalls, crystal-clear rivers, small lakes, woodlands and stunning views. Luckily it has no crocodiles, hippos or bilharzia and is therefore perfect for swimming & canoeing. The area is home to almost 300 bird species and different antelopes. This truly is a special ‘undiscovered’ part of Africa. Overnight in Mutinondo (Full board, including all activities)

Day 4 & 5: Kapishya Hot springs

After breakfast you will leave for the Kapishya Hot Springs, a lovely spot near Shiwa Ng’andu, the  famous Africa house, an English mansion built in the middle of the Zambian bush by Stewart Gore-Brown. You will stay in a chalet at the Kapishya Hot Springs (full board, including activities). The hot springs are truly one of the most stunning natural bathing areas known to man. Sit and relax for hours in the natural water surrounded by wildlife and bush. From the Kapishya Hot Springs you can go on hiking trails, horse-back safaris, boat cruises and book a highly recommended tour to Shiwa Ng’andu.

Day 6 & 7: North Luangwa
After breakfast we start the 5 hour trip to North Luangwa, one of the last real wilderness areas in Africa that is untouched by mass tourism. This unspoilt gem (almost 5 thousand square kilometres in size) has very few visitors and an abundance of wildlife. Huge herds of buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and numerous other species can be found here. This is Africa as it was a few hundred years ago. Your camp lies on a bend of the Mwaleshi River, surrounded by plains. It is a basic camp in the heart of the wilderness, ideal for the adventurer.  Let an experienced guide show you the wild from up close on a walking safari. Learn how to orientate in the bush, what to do in potentially dangerous situations and how to read tracks. The remoteness of this camp makes this a very special experience. Fall asleep at night to the sounds of the wild and chatter at the fire place. Basis: Full Board including Game Activities

Day 8 & 9: Luambe National Park
Today we leave for Luambe National Park on a road that hasn’t been seen by many tourists. The trip of 5-6 hours takes our 4x4 over small river crossings (especially in the wet season) and past real African bush sceneries. You will stay at a friendly small scale camp where you sleep in comfortable elevated tents that overlook the Luangwa River. You will stay two nights in Luangwa Wilderness Lodge to give you an opportunity to get to explore Luambe and all its treasures (full board, including game activities).

Day 10, 11 & 12: South Luangwa National Park
Today yet another adventurous trip through the bush awaits. Travel through Luambe  National Park to South Luangwa National Park at the Luangwa River, known for the highest density of crocodiles and hippos of all rivers in Africa! The 5 to 6 hour scenic tour is a highlight on its own and includes many impressive photo stops and a rewarding lunch spot.  In the course of the afternoon you will arrive at another small scale camp in South Luangwa, near the main gate, overlooking the Luangwa River. You will get to explore this pristine park by game drive vehicle and on foot. The high game densities, the stunning Luangwa River, the possibility of night drives and walking safaris make this an unforgettable African wildlife experience. Can you spot the leopards Luangwe is known for? Basis: Full Board including Game Activities

Day 13-14: Lusaka
After breakfast you will be taken from your lodge back to Lusaka. Spend the last night of your trip in a very special and luxurious boutique hotel (bed & breakfast included) situated in the heart of the city. After some last minute shopping and/or relaxation your tour ends here. Unless you feel like adding a few days of course…
