ITINERARY Day 1: Cape Town and surrounds Start your exploration of Cape Town with a Peninsula drive to Cape Point. Lunch near Boulders Beach before heading off to world renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens While driving along the shores, keep your eyes open for sighting of the Southern Right Whales who visit us at this time of the year… Overnight: Cape Town
Day 2: Cape Town Experience part of South Africa’s history by visiting Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years. Enjoy the spectacular views from the top of Table Mountain or if the weather is not playing ball – visit the Bo Kaap museum or go shopping at the V&A Waterfront Overnight: Cape Town
Day 3: Cape Town and surrounds – winelands and Hermanus Spend today visiting the town of Hermanus where you are practically guaranteed to spot southern Right Whales. Spend the day feasting your eyes on these magnificent creatures – or drive home through the winelands. Overnight: Cape Town
Day 4: Cape Town – Cederberg Heading up the West Coast – look back at spectacular views of Table Mountain. Enjoy the fascinating sight of 1000s of flowers generally found on the West Coast at this time of the year. (pre book lunch at the Strandloper restaurant outside Langebaan if fresh quality seafood and a laid back environment suits your style). Overnight Cederberg area
Day 5 and 6: To Bushman’s Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Retreat Located on the edge of the Cederberg Area – this reserve and retreat provides the ultimate Wilderness Experience – with a wonderful combination of nature and luxury! A Natural Heritage Site – it is a sanctuary for many forms of fauna and flora as well as over 140 San Bushman rock art sites. Various activities can keep one busy – nature hikes, canoeing, swimming in natural pools, fishing, archery and much more! Overnight: Bushman’s Kloof
Day 7: Bushman’s Kloof to Springbok Enjoy the drive through Namaqualand to Springbok – make sure you stop at one of the many road side craft centres for local produce such a biltong or locally made arts and crafts. Overnight; Springbok
Day 8 and 9:Springbok area After the Winter rainfall in Namaqualand the normally arid landscape explodes in a multitude of colours as flowers invade the countryside for as far as you can see – a once in a lifetime experience. Explore at leisure. Overnight; Sprinbok
Day 10: Springbok to Upington The drive to Upington is extraordinary as Upington is an oasis located between he Kalahari Desert and the Orange River. Irrigation systems allow for vineyards – a strange site in otherwise arid countryside. Overnight: Upington
Days 11 and 12: Upington Upington provides the perfect starting point for game viewing as well as various adrenaline sports. The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and Augrabies National Park, Riemvasmaak Hot Springs and Spitskop Nature Reserve are all in the area as well as various wine routes and cellars. For the adventure seeker, River rafting and canoeing, hiking trails, horse back riding, sand surfing, abseiling, mountain biking, and various 4X4 routes are available. Township and shebeen tours, rock art trips as well as birth watching and fishing are also options. Overnight: Upington (or in one of the parks)
Day 13: Upington –Transfer to flight home On this last day – wither transfer to Upington airport for a connecting flight home = or add on to visit Namibia or a longer stay in one of the National Parks.
