Day 1: Moremi Game Reserve This park forms part of the Okavango Delta and covers 4871 sq km and it is named after Chief Moremi of the Batswana tribe.
The Safari commences with a leisurely drive in northerly direction, passing through the small town of Shorobe to South Gate of Moremi Game Reserve where your 4x4 goes off-road. Sand tracks lead through scenic landscapes with Mopani and camel thorn trees. Keep an eye out for elephant, giraffe and impala. The tour will take you past lagoons and scenic viewing areas with names like Paradise Pools, Dombo Hippo Pool and Dead Tree Island. View African wildlife unobstructed by boundaries set by man. You will stay at a Kazzikini camp, about twenty kilometers from the South Gate. From here you will embark on a spectacular night game.
Day 2: Moremi to Khwai village We leave Moremi Game Reserve through the Northern Gate at Khwai, where you will pass the longest wooden pole bridge and visit the local shop, an attraction itself for refreshments. We will spend the second night at the Khwai Development Trust, a sustainable eco-tourist project supported by the local Babukakhwae (“river bushmen”). Here you will experience another opportunity for a night Game drive.
Day 3: Chobe National Park We travel a 40km over sand tracks to Mababe gate, passing the Khwai River which is an excellent place for game viewing and bird watching before turning North on the sand track to the Mababe Gate of Chobe. Overnight for one night in the Savuti area, a real game viewing Walhalla. We will also visit the interesting hills surrounding Savuti, like Bushmen Painting Hill, Kudu Hills, and Sable Hills. There is also the spectacular Baobab tree that is so big that eleven people can surround it by holding hands. Enjoy sundowners at the waterhole, watching the elephant silhouette against a setting sun!
Day 4: Chobe, north We will leave from Savuti area to travel over the sand ridge on way to the Northern border at the Chobe River. This drive in itself is very interesting with highlights such as Chobe forestry area with its rolling dunes and small villages like Kachekau, Kavimba, Mabele and Muchenje. We have lunch at Buffalo ridge on the bank of the Chobe River. This area near the border Namibia on the opposite side, is another exceptional game viewing spot and home to the majestic African fish eagle. Late afternoon we will leave this special wildlife park and travel about fifteen kilometers to our lodge in Kasane.
Day 5: End After breakfast we will leave you at the lodge or take you to your next Accommodation (not included in this package). |
