Possibly even more authentic than the braai is a potjiekos (poy-key) meal, prepared in a traditional three-legged cast-iron pot. A decent “potjie” will take hours to prepare but will be worth the wait. Favourite ingredients (all carefully added layer by layer) are vegetables, chicken and fish. For the fans there is also “afval” which includes the animal parts the butcher usually removes...
