Southern Africa Travel Guide

Leopard

Of the Big 5, this spotted predator is the hardest to spot. The leopard is mostly nocturnal and spends a lot of time in or around trees. It even lifts its prey up trees for a meal with a view. Not to be confused with the much slimmer, small headed cheetah with its solid spots and black ‘tear marks’. Leopards are present in all Big Five parks but you can count yourself lucky if you see some.
