Hermanus & Overberg |
|
|
Country: South Africa Region: Overberg Whale Coast Just under two hours from Cape Town you will find Hermanus, the whale watching capital of the world. The area is rich in highlights like the penguin colony and botanical gardens of Betty’s Bay. Or the lighthouse at Cape Agulhas, the southern tip of Africa where the two oceans meet. One of the highlights for beach lovers is Arniston or Waenhuiskrans, the only town with two official names. Hermanus is the only town in the world a professional "whale crier" and is considered the whale watching capitals. But whales don't bother with municipal borders, so other towns in the Overberg are equally great for whale watching. Kleinmond, Gansbaai and Betty's Bay are excellent whale watching spots. |
